SunTrust's New Online Treasury Manager Allows Businesses to Stay Connected To Finances from Anywhere

ATLANTA, Dec 4, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) has introduced "Online Treasury Manager," a new Internet delivery channel which provides business clients with quicker and more convenient access to SunTrust's treasury management services.

Online Treasury Manager provides a single point of access from any Internet connection for companies to conduct treasury management functions including balance reporting, ACH initiation, same day ACH transfers, stop payments, domestic and international wire transfer initiation and special reports creation.

Other capabilities, such as Internet access to cash concentration, positive pay and paid check images, will be added in 2002.

"Internet connections are fast becoming a standard for business-to- business communications," said Scott Peterson, managing director of Treasury Management Services. "Customers using this new product have told us they like the new system's easy navigation, practical functionality, and minimal training requirements. Online Treasury Manager allows treasury managers to interact dynamically with the bank and to customize the presentation of information, reports and transaction files. It also provides multiple levels of security to protect dollars, data and individual transactions."

Online Treasury Manager can be accessed from almost any PC with a Web browser. "Authorized users can log on from their offices, an airport, or any remote site," added Peterson. "The system can also support multiple users concurrently, whether sitting in adjoining cubicles or on opposite coasts."

Security is a key component of SunTrust Online Treasury Manager, including a series of identifiers and passwords, firewalls, and 128-bit encryption, the highest level available in today's commercial market. To ensure the privacy of financial data and the appropriate restriction on any transactions initiated, SunTrust gives clients the ability to authorize who has system access by functionality and by account. This also allows SunTrust clients the ability to respond to staffing changes on a real-time basis.

Online Treasury Manager is another service provided by SunTrust Banks, Inc. Atlanta-based SunTrust is the nation's ninth-largest commercial banking organization. As of September 30, 2001, SunTrust had total assets of $103.3 billion and total deposits of $63.1 billion.
